The City of Rifle says it wants to see a state law limiting the use of what are called low-speed neighborhood electric vehicles. The city bought 4 of them with Governor's Energy Office and other state funds a few years ago. Now they say their use is limited to the north side of I-70 because of state safety and speed rules. The Daily Sentinel says State Sen. Gail Schwartz of Snowmass Village is sponsoring a bill that would let the vehicles be used on 40 mph state roads. C-DOT says it'll oppose the bill, citing major safety concerns.
