Trooper Court Request Denied

A Mesa County District Court Judge has denied a request to have statements by a State Trooper accused in the 2010 fatal shooting of a Redlands man, supressed. Attoneys for Cpl. Kirk Firko say Firko had ineffective assistance from an attorney and statements after the shooting should be thrown out. The Daily Sentinel says that motion was denied a week and a half ago... another motion is under consideration.  Firko and Trooper Gene Lawyer are scheduled for separate trials in April.
