New Trial Sought

A 34 year old man is looking for a new trial in the murder of 18 year old Coty Vernon in 1998. Jason Garner is serving a life sentence. Mesa County district Court Judge Valerie Robison heard testimony yesterday from Garner's attorneys who say his trial attorneys failed to call medical experts who offered potential favorable testimony for the defense.  The Daily Sentinel says Garner is claiming meth intoxication caused him to act out violently.  Robison is expected to issue a written ruling on Garner's request for a new trial.
