A new bill in the Senate Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Energy Committee is looking to help small farmers by creating alternative methods for them to sell homemade, value added goods. It's called the Local Foods, Local Jobs Act. Sponsor Snowmass Senator Gail Schwartz says the bill would ease impediments to local markets by exempting home kitchens from certain health inspections generally applied to large retailers. 30 other states have passed similar laws to promote local products.
